>>10974357>>10975085The biggest issue I have with psychology, at least all of the psychology I've ever been exposed to, is that their "Experiments" seem hugely flawed.
For instance, there was one I learned about where the of course black female scientist wanted to examine the unconscious racial biases in people. To do this she would flash an image of a person for like 1 frame (either a black guy or a white guy) and then tell have an image of some object quickly go from unfocused to focused and measure how long it too for the people to signal that they knew what it was.
Her results were that when you paired black guy with weapon, people recognized it faster. Of course the lady got all sorts of accolades and my teacher (of course a woman) talked about how great she was.
Now, that experiment is already pretty iffy if you ask me. Recognizing weapons faster and racism isn't any sort of proven connection and its all subjective about how you interpret that result. But it gets far worse. Did she use different ethnicity? No. Did she use different faces? No. Did she use things like animals or other images that should produce a null result? No. How much faster was the reaction speed? Fraction of a second.
In other words, she had this super specific set of circumstances that do not account for countless other interpretations or problems and yet she is attempting to make wide reaching judgements based on it.
Thats the problem of psychology in a nutshell: Attempting to make universal statements on very scant and subjective data.
