Can it be something like this?
$x = a\cdot t\cdot\cos{t} + b\cdot\cos{t}\cdot\sin{t}$

For example, here is the square wave series multiplied by the sine function. The envelope of the curve is approaching that of sine.

It looks like ln(x) because you have ln(x)*some periodic function that oscillates between -2 and 2??? its like saying wow 3x looks like mx+c
