People who come out of Grandes Ecoles are great at maths, but have no practical skills.
It was great was discussing complex modelisation issues but implementation was always such a clusterfuck.
At one point we needed to check for the first letter of the user last name, a guy fresh out of Polytechnique legit who wrote down 26 if/else cases, one for each letter. Had majored in data science too...
Best engineers I worked with there all came out of no name provincial schools and were self taught
