>>10969744I've lived in both regions and in my opinion it is very related to policy, but deep down what it's actually about is the general philosophy of the two different areas, culturally within the people living there. the policy reflects that.
america is a great place to be ambitious and successful, europe is a great place to be laid back and mediocre. if you're rich, you're going to make more and live better in america. if you're poor, you're going to be better off in europe. america has a risk taking "I want to win" mentality, europe has a conservative "let's play it safe" mentality. you can see it in tech, where america constantly churns out new startups while europe is just always lacking.
america is just a place where people go if they want to work really hard and get the rewards of that, europe has a lot of people who really just don't want to work hard at all and only want a comfortable safe easy life.
there's lots of exceptions but that's what it's all about from my point of view. america just culturally attracts top people who want to succeed, and europe just culturally attracts people who want to cruise through life.
