It's a cop-out for those who produce the patches. "If it doesn't work, it's your fault because you lack Willpower™"

It's like the boomer who preach that hard work is the foundation of success: "if you failed, is because you didn't work hard enough!" The statement is obviously unfalsifiable because there is no measure of "hard work" being set beforehand as the required minimum: no matter how hard you tried, if you failed it means it still wasn't enough.
