Tips for studying, note taking

Do any of you have some tips or advise for more efficient note taking? I feel like I'm falling behind each lecture because I can't copy down my professors notes fast enough. Do you guys use any type of condensed note taking or shorthand? also general study method thread.

dont invest too much into replicating lecture notes during the actual lecture, you are better off just paying attention. especially if the lecture notes are being provided by your prof.

here are some effective study methods backed by science:

>self-test yourself on study material with flashcards, quiz etc
>retrieve information post lecture via summarys/thinkmaps
>spaced repetition; spread out your revision through time, the key is to study less over a longer period of time, dont cram for exams.

Some of our lectures are recorded on Panopto, but interestingly enough personally recording lectures is specifically forbidden in every class I've taken.

Wrong. Always cram for exams. Don't buy into the "honorable way to do the test" nonsense. Life is about getting ahead at every chance. Someone doing exam crams will be ahead of someone not doing it. Its a guarantied outcome.

You're both right. You should be utilizing spaced repetition for long-term memorization (this makes studying for finals much easier), but you should also be ramping up your study time significantly in the week leading up to a test.

Lecture notes are generally useless. Even my Calculus 3 professor said the same thing. What really solidifies your learning is textbook/homework exercises.

If all time and space freezes do you still age while outside of the passage of time? My first thought would be to sleep while time is stopped. would the body still function normally under these circumstances or would you wake up and feel exactly the same as before you fell asleep? would you even be able to sleep?
