I coasted through high school and my freshman and sophomore years of Uni on raw talent, but precisely because of that my grades were always average to bad. Only when I discovered a motivator (switching from an Engi degree to a Pure & Applied Physics program) did I start caring enough to put in the effort and my grades improved as a result.
Everyone can make it. Even people we consider stupid. All it takes is dedication, perseverance, and constant study. You can overcome any academic hurdle with enough practice, and you can learn any topic with constant (and proper) study.
