Why did the jannies delete the UFO thread?
The U.S. government has officially admitted that UFO's are real and that it spends millions of dollars employing scientists and engineers to study them. This is a topic relavant to /sci/.

I mean that the reality of a more advanced species with the power to destroy our sun floating around up there and preventing us from leaving because "your species is too immature" will piss every moron on earth off enough to trigger armageddon. Surviving a few brushes with the great filter and the big holes they made in the galaxy have made them paranoid. We are ignorant and stupid.

We were unlucky to have been formed in a more dangerous solar system than theirs was. They didn't have to deal with any mass extinctions except the ones they made themselves. This put them far, far ahead of us.

I really don't think anybody would react well to the truth if they knew it.

Aliens are a government psy-op.
It's part of a larger conspiracy to suppress education and literacy in science. These obvious misinformation schemes have only one purpose, to strengthen the credibility and authority of the established dogma and approved narrative. The aliens aren't holding out on us, but somebody is.

The idea that it's weather phenomena is a COPE.
We have had hundreds of UFO incidents recorded by American, Canadian, Brazillian, Israeli, French, and British governments, who have concluded otherwise.
Just take the most recently revealed USS Roosevelt incident. How did a weather phenomenon simulate 3 different types of UFO craft witnessed by hundreds of pilots and radar operators over an entire year? The U.S. government has already concluded it's not weather phenomena or foreign aircraft, why keep COPING?

slightly more plausible, but still hard to believe

seems like it's an possible outcome that'll inevitably happen, assuming the human race lives long enough to invent such machines and such machines are even theoretically possible
