Gendered nouns and the way tenses work can be a pain comming from English, but all in all it isn't too bad.
Pick something like French for Reading, work through it and then start reading books/textbooks in french while listening to songs/podcasts/whatever.
Only study grammar after you already can read at a reasonable speed and writr your thoughts in simple phrases without prompting/having to look stuff up.
