>>10951768I almost completely got rid of ADD symptoms. Wouldn't test positive on the same test I previously did.
When various psychologists/psychiatrists kept explaining ADD as not having enough dopamine receptors (and the solution being stimulants like methylphenidate), I thought about and looked at my life. Was there anything contributing?
Lots of playing games, lots of sex, lots of masturbation and porn. I figured, I'm probably experiencing dopamine inflation, it's time for austerity.
Cut computers from my life for a month. I think I ended up reading 15 books that month. Restricted sex to once a week for that month (poor gf).
And I gotta tell you. It fucking sucked. I felt miserable almost every day. Wanted to relapse every day. I thought it'd take a week to rebalance, but it took more than a month. I slowly reintroduced computer, sex, games into my life. I fucked up sometimes, but whenever I get the sense that I'm overindulging I've learned to cut back. I guess people learn this as kids, but my mother was a drunk.
Maybe it's not the solution for everyone, but having taught kids, the boys that really loved gaming also had poorer patience/attention. I think the world just looks that more drab compared the game zone and the more time spent in bells and whistles technicolor stereo world.
But maybe I'm reversing cause and effect.
