Should this book be simple to understand?

I haven't done highschool maths in over 5 years and want to get back into it, I was recommended this book as an absolute beginners start to maths.
The topics are familiar but the way they're explained is as if I should already know them, as opposed to introducing them to me for the first time

Have you guys learned from this book yourself? what do you think of it?
