I can't find a single consistent statistic for this. And i think the 20% stat is bogus because 80% of our oxygen comes from the ocean

The amazon uses all it's oxygen, that's basically what makes it a jungle in the first place.
If the amazon diffused its oxygen outside to the rest of the world, it wouldn't have been able to become a dense jungle in the first place.

the reason people don't want the amazon rainforest to get cut down is because
1. it's a huge carbon sink and burning it released CO2
2. its got plants and animals and bugs and shit and people like cataloging them
