Thus even in supposedly secular communities you are getting people who have totalizing ideologies, such as SJW's. They've basically just transposed all their religious trappings, the purity tests, the reflexive censorship, the witch trials....all of it. These are essentially religious-minded people without the religion, and they are every bit as bad.
Meanwhile there are many religious people who have carefully considered beliefs that are quite respectable.
The issue is with the fundamentalist mindset, whether that's religious people, or pseudo-religious people like the aforementioned SJW's.
You can take a man away church, but the fanaticism remains. If it's not their religion it just becomes something else.
This mindset proliferates because it results in a higher birthrate
