I unironically feel subhuman for not having done maths or physics or a really mathsy CS degree at an elite university.
I picked a boring as fuck STEM degree at a non elite university, and in the UK. So the courses were dumbed down. I found the subject matter SO boring. Every single field of study was founded by a mathematician or physicist. Why try hard in a degree that gives zero intellectual foundations? And careerwise, why put effort in to a degree when the university name matters more for getting interviews?
I have never done anything non-trivial in my life. People my age (late 20s) are studying the pretzel shapes of black holes or proving that all surjective bijective cohomological Dirac-Darcy equations satisfy the Tanahama-Steenstein conjecture in the 5th dimension and above. Or are being paid $300k to create java compilers in assembly that run in the browser to mine bitcoins through machine learning and "has science gone too far!" ads.
