Dihydro- means there are two hydrogens
Di = Two
Hydro = Hydrogen
Learn latin if you want to be able to discern basically all scientific names

Hydrogen = hydro + genes: generator of water

isn't it weird that a bunch of useful chemicals exist, and for many of them, you can add two hydrogen atoms[0] to make a different useful chemical? why do those new chemicals share in common? nothing at all apart from the presence of the atoms? why do those new atoms make new useful chemicals and not just do nothing or make garbage?

to be more explicit but perhaps stretching too far into pseudoscience: for example, does adding two hydrogen atoms to testosterone and codeine make them softer/wetter/hotter[1]? or do they affect them in completely separate ways?

[0] or whatever common prefix you like
[1] or whatever attribute you like

if youre talking biochem: many (relatively large) molecules still have a similar shape with or without the double bond. otherwise thats just coincidences. i thought this is pretty obvious
