I'm working on a research project about the [possible] effects of a new law enacted. I have roughly 200 cases that apply from the 2018 year.

I have a strong math background, but very little in terms of stats (background in engineering, only stats I did were taught in an engr class, as far as they applied to the content of the class). What kinds of things should I take into account or look out for? This feels like a small data set to me, but its all there is.
