Science has a long way to go. There's no denying in that, but I just can't think of a way there will ever be a golden age again.

The early 1900s and late 1800s was the best period for science. So much so, that amazing articles where coming out every couple of years. Physikalische Zeitschrift had so much important stuff it has it's own ISO abbreviation! Could you imagine anything like that happening today?

Can any of you think of any actual possible breakthroughs in science, practical enough as for them to not be read only by 1 or 3 people in the world (i.e. anything related to String theory)
