>>10926585This. Its really that simple. This was a basic truth back in the 60's and it still holds today. Portions may vary but the rule of the thumb is your plate should be 1/2 veggies, 1/4 carbs, and
1/4 meat. No sauces. No butter. Actually less meat is better but I make an exception for fish. People might argue those fractions, but its simple to remember and to judge when loading your plate.
Where it gets tricky for most people is in the time spent shopping and then preparing the meal. But there are nifty shortcuts you can take and with the right methods of cooking and herbs even the most ordinary of veggies can be made appealing without the need for sauces, butter or shitloads of salt. It took me a while to learn but now I can knock out a fine healthy meal made from fresh ingredients in literally 10 minutes. No, I dont use a microwave.
