What are some recent examples of technology that was created and fully proven to work but has been kept from the general public?

The first example of this I’ve come across was the race feature of faceapp. It’s an incredibly interesting piece of technology that pretty much flawlessly transformed images.

A more recent example is the Jordan Peterson AI. It was a little limited in scope but it had some very convincing voice examples made.
