Sure, we're barely scratching the surface when it comes to genetic engineering, but think about space travel for a second. Elon Musk is playing a long game for humanity probably just because *He* wants to get into one. I doubt he gives any shit about anything else.
Now what if there comes a billionaire that never got passed the OwO phase and starts pouring millions into becoming a fucking dog or something. If he manages it, he would probably plunge humanity into a race war with no end, or complete indifference to those that become genetically engineered.
