Since we can already see planets of other systems with our telescopes it's fair to say we can see quite a few light years away. Given this information should we not be able to view planets in extreme detail by improving our telescopes slightly. If we do this to far off planets we would be viewing them several years or even thousands of years in the past. So could a hypothetical alien world have catalogue our planets entire history in excruciating detail? Or am I a brainlet missing some crucial factor?
