No. Finish a UG math degree, do an MS in accounting, financial math, or some kind of engineering. You can also try for actuarial jobs though it's becoming increasingly difficult to get them since they're such a bullshit cush lifestyle as long as you can jerk yourself hard enough over test prep for the exams.

i'm pretty sure i could do a phd but i have the feeling that if you don't have a successful academic career afterwards, then it was just a waste of time. isn't it just a waste of time to get a phd if you work in the industry later?

If your goal is anything other than to just study it because you like it, no, it is not worth it.

There are far better and easier degrees if you want a high paying job.

If you were smart enough to get a tenure track position at even a half decent public university you wouldn't be asking and would already know you have a decent chance.
