I'm currently learning statistics and finding it quite boring. Is the key just grinding until you understand the concepts and then it gets more enjoyable?

It never gets more enjoyable. Statistics is to science what an hammer is to building a house. Science like the building process is the fun part but studying the hammer just like statistics is excruciatingly boring.

Very similar as to how you need tools to build a house, isn't it. The question was not whether or not statistics is useful or important. It definitely is. The question was whether or not it was enjoyable and interesting and from my own experience, the only interesting thing about it is applying it to data.

statistics is a list of rules-of-thumb that are based on probability.
same as chemistry is based on physics.
there is room for innovation and creativity in stats tho, just like chemistry can be interesting too.
