A much simpler proof is: If the moon was spherical, why doesn't it appear geometrically spherical? There should be at least some gradient of tone across the surface, but that isn't what we observe, it's clearly flatly lit at all times, a physical impossibility no matter how much light shines upon it. If they retort by stating the brightness of the sun 'blows out' any tonal gradient, then how can we clearly see its surface with the unaided eye?
Irrefutable proof of the observable non-sphericity of the moon.
