Is there some sort of database where I can look at chemicals like I would read a Chinese dictionary (i.e. starting from "radicals" or "roots" [character components or individual characters], here the analogy is with elements or isotopes, and building up into compounds - with their different usages, effects, histories, and occurrences in different contexts?

I found it quite interesting to read about the similarities between gingerol, capsaicin and piperine in terms of their uses, histories, and chemical structures. I wonder if there are databases where I can just start clicking one chemical to the next or where there are tree-like diagrams of chemicals?

How are chemicals arranged diagrammatically in general? When I look at the wikipedia page for gingerol, there's no equivalent to "family" or "genus" or broader class listed in terms of chemistry. It's only slotted into TRP channel modulators, which is a biomedical category from what I can tell, rather than a chemical category. Where's the chemical categorisation system and where can I browse it?
