Alright:
I was awful in school
I enrolled university for a engineering degree
I straight up failed my first two semesters

GPA is a very good predictor of how well you are doing academically. And no, I was not lazy.

Of course it doesn't cover everything an employer would want to know, but it helps. You sound like "Im smart, but I just don't do well in a school enviornment" snowflake. I also dont have the best GPA because I have faults doing projects on time. Thats OK and I understand that.

GPA isnt everything, but its not nothing either.

I failed miserably in my easy highschool, and haven't graduated cc in 6 years. My IQ can't be lower than 100, but I literally can't get my shit together. Adderall doesn't help really. I just can't stay awake and kept my mind clear.

More like tests are what determine GPA in classes, especially math, you could study for 10 hours a day on one subject but if you shit yourself on the test you will get a bad grade, it’s not how much work you put in, it’s how well you do on a test.

OP here, my gpa is 2.8, I have a 3.2 in my major coursework, I have studied about as hard as you can, I’ve never missed a homework or project deadline, I routinely get high marks on them, but tests? I do shit on almost everyone of them, the employer doesn’t care if you fucked up on a question because a test shows only what you know at that time, not everything you know, A GPA is just a indicator of how you do in a test/class setting, now how well you know what you work for.

If you have a sub-3.5, it is impossible for you to have a high IQ.

Its a piece of data, not a complete indicator. Use it in context with other things. For example, if someone has a mediocre GPA, but plenty of extracurriculars and solid work experience, you can probably conclude they are competent, just not school focused. If some poo has a 4.0 gpa but outright fails the technical interview, you can conclude he is a cheating retard.

Wrong. I was pathetically lazy in highschool and most of my undergrad I had something close to 2.5 GPA. I made it to grad school on the strength of independent research and GREs, and now I'm publishing papers in theoretical physics.

GPA is still important because you need to be both smart and not lazy to really succeed

Highschool GPA was a pretty shit indicator of anything other than how good I was with putting up with bullshit. I had like a 2.9 or something in highschool but got into college on a 1530 SAT. Got better at putting up with bullshit and now I have a 3.8 after two years.

Being able to put up with bullshit is a real skill though not just a meme. If you're trying really hard in classes and you're GPA still blows then maybe it means something I guess.

must stuff taught at university can be EASILY learned if you just put in some effort, but you are right on him being a dumbass, not because he failed, but because he wasted time and money

but that is exactly it, and to do well, you have to put in the time and work, it essentially measures your work ethic and commitment.
which is something schools, specially med/dental/Graduate schools are looking for.

I’m a functioning heroin addict with all As honors in my college I’m about to graduate. I did terrible in high school because I didn’t care, strangely enough I started giving a shit while being a secret junkie, essentially trying to cover up my secret life by doing well in school. I’m not sure GPA = intelligent but it does show lazy or not lazy that’s for sure. It’s very rare that a lazy student has a 3.8+ GPA, and it’s very rare that someone with a 3.8+ is lazy
