What probably happens is absolute nothingness , kind of like how if felt to be a baby. You dont remember anything but one day started processing memories at around 3/4. I believe death is essential that in reverse. One moment you have a processed memory and the next pure nothing. And one wouldn't even be aware of the nothingness like a baby isn't aware of it's either.
