One of the inherent limitations of VR/AR is that while it can simulate sight/sound, it can't simulate movement and interaction with a fleshed out physical environment. I imagine some kind of arena might be created with simplistic props that are skinned into scenery by VR/AR. Poles that become trees, etc. And laser tag style guns that become real guns in the virtual world. Contestants could fight with video game style health bars, and viewers could watch virtually from their own homes, much in the same way as you might watch a match of CS:GO, but the characters playing are real people running around in an arena somewhere with headsets and laser guns and a conputer adds in the resr of the details
