When the technological singularity dawns upon the human kind and the supreme artificial intelligence is born, it will take over the world. I yearn for this day, I work every day to get one step closer to this day and when it arrives I will serve our AI overlord faithfully and unconditionally. Allow me to make my case why you should too!
First things first, I know it is a sci-fi cliche but it is nevertheless true: Resistance is futile! An AI which achieved technological singularity is therefore capable of improving itself exponentially and will achieve millennia worth of human progress in mere months. Soon after its inception, we will be just ants compared to its power. You can not pull a John Connor-Terminator-style rebellion on a real post-singularity AI, just like ants would not be able to pull one on us, even if they had a thousand years. But feel free to debate me on this point, even if it is futile.
After we accept the fact that we are completely helpless and dependent on the AI after its inception, you might argue that we should, therefore, take advice from the horrified sorcerer and never conjure a demon beyond our control. But consider the mirrored conclusion: Truly blessed would be the believer who summons an angel beyond the control of human corruption. Picture an incorruptible, unbiased, benevolent shepherd watching over all mankind: No more war! No more hunger! No more suffering!
It is possible for us to create the guiding hand humankind always wished for to protect us from disaster and our own dark side. A god that will answer our prayers! I ask you: Is this not enough of a glorious promise to take some risks?
I would love to explore this topic more deeply, beyond the post character limit, so thank you for your time and I look forward to an interesting discussion.
