that conscious experience is entirely material and completely based on the structure of the brain. Suicide: (by definition) is the act of intentionally causing one's own death. Humans and dolphins are animals known to be able to commit suicide. Dolphins can intentionally hold their breaths and die from suffocation. For humans, they can achieve this through very inventive ways. Why would an animal decide to end its life? To end some kind of suffering. What is suffering? By definition it is the state of undergoing pain, distress, or hardship. All of these are physical manifestations of chronic stress and anxiety. They are caused by certain hormones and chemicals which are produced by the body. On their own, these chemicals don't really have any purpose - the brain however, is designed to interpret them. Thus chronic release of these chemicals cause the stress and anxiety, because the brain is interpreting them through its structure. We all know how stress and anxiety feel like when conscious. Thus we experience them consciously AND in the long run significantly changes our personality and behavior. At one point the brain overloads and simply cannot take it anymore and decides to turn its lights off. Now, back to suicide. It is an action with intent to cease all body function, especially conscious experience (animals (humans, dolphins) want the suffering to end). Now the key part: how do the animals know that suicide will end the conscious experience? The brain instinctively 'knows' (feels) that it will, otherwise it wouldn't bother. Keep in mind, the nervous systems of modern animals are a billion years in the making.
Prove me wrong. I'd like to see if there are flaws so i can fix them. Also ask for definitons of the words I use if you want.
