Men have a stronger natural fascination/interest in non-person things whereas women have a stronger natural fascination/interest in people and person related things (women are more naturally social than men)
Men who score well in math and analytical thinking tend to score worse in social and emotional thinking, and vice-versa, but this dichotomy does not exist in women (or at least not nearly and strongly)
Men do not tend to thrive unless they have tasks to accomplish, 'dependencies' in general (a feeling of importance/usefulness), while women tend to thrive whether or not they have these things. Women also tend not to thrive unless they have significant social interaction and connection (a feeling of wantedness/appreciatedness), while men tend to thrive whether or not they have these things.
Men tend to be more risk taking than women, which leads both to more successes and more failures in male-driven enterprises. Women tend to be more risk averse, and value stability and normalcy more than men.
In short, men and women have complementary intelligence to one another, and when working together tend to perform better than either sex does alone. A group of all women on an island can be hamstrung by their averseness to take risks and break from the status quo, a group of all men will make great progress but will suffer in terms of interpersonal communication and can self destruct. A group of men and women on an island will progress more slowly but steadily and will be far more socially robust.
