Every time I heat these new dishes I bought with water in them, these weird flakes of unknown substance form on the surface of the water. I have tried heating them, scrubbing them with steel wool pads + soap, copper pads + soap, intense effort with the rough side of a sponge and soap, and before all of this or any soap was applied at all, heating them several times, but no matter what I do, it always seems to form and I have no idea why. As far as I know, there is no adhesive on the inside (the dishes came wrapped in plastic), and I know for sure that it isn't something in my water because they don't form on old dishes I have. They are Anchor Hocking glassware cooking dishes. I just want to know that they are safe to use, because where it stands, even if they suddenly stop producing the flakes, it seems like they are probably still producing whatever it is in unseeable amounts. Any thoughts of what this could be?
