Are there research positions for mathematicians in Industry? I'm currently a Sophomore at a no-name Uni but I would like to someday achieve a PHD in maths and do research in industry. How difficult would it be to achieve this?

Depends on your background and the topic of your PhD, obviously. Best pick a PhD project that's done in cooperation with an industrial partner.

Yes, if you have the background to apply the math to. I.E. the research lab I'm in there is a bit of applied math, but you'd better have a background in the field and not just math.
