Especially because you want the math skills for a specific purpose and not their own sake. You'll need to become skilled at identifying what exactly it is you don't know and targeting your learning towards particular weaknesses as you discover them.
If you absolutely want a book and are as inexperienced as I think you are, consider pic related. Note it won't teach you basic numeracy, and I DO NOT recommend trying to work through it cover to cover. Think of it as a reference book and problem bank for high school level math. (Yes, it's everything /sci/ hates but it's for normies not math autists)
Finally, it's really hard to give good advice without knowing exactly what it is you do or do not know. If you have the money for it, consider hiring a private tutor or enrolling in a short course. The immediate feedback is invaluable for remedial math studies.
