In the original Prussian system workers were needed,not thinkers,so there was a selection process where only few kids advanced far enough into that system of learning where they could call themselves scientists.
Now this system is still used so the mortification comes in where no kid is left behind,so there is overproduction of scientists that dont really produce much worth or as a one saying in my language tells us,they "pour hollow in empty".
