If I was an eccentric trillionaire and I offered a reward of 100 BILLION DOLLARS for a proof of some big problem, like the Riemann hypothesis or P vs NP, would we get concrete results within like a month?

No. Here's the thing those who are already of the caliber of solving these problems are not motivated by the money. Of anything you would just make it worse as normies would learn about it and all try to go into mathematics only to fail when they have to take analysis I.

I kinda doubt it. If you just said that everyone who made meaningful work towards it would get 100k a year, that would speed things up, but for most people working on it, a solution would already entail pretty much being set for life (especially P=NP), so I don't think an extra billion dollars is going to change much.

Yes, but not this way. Make university courses free, fund additional places, and offer any unemployed maths and physics graduates a guaranteed salary to work on the problem.

Partially, but not by a big prize like that.

Offering reasonable sized grants to university professors that are working on something related means they and their grad students can do research rather than teaching and they can hire postdocs too. Other professors might gravitate towards problems that they can argue are related so they can get apiece of the pie too.

This means a lot more man-hours of smart people are devoted to related problems than otherwise would be the case

would it though? Knowing the truth of the RH isn't worth a damn thing practically speaking. Maybe the math needed to prove it could be applied to something practical but I doubt it

Oh it's worth a damn thing alright. I can think of countless ways to make RH Primes factor into an algorithm that predicts economic equity rates in millennial scales, it would be like taking a wrecking ball to every economic institution ever conceived and bathing in the money that falls out.

I know you're joking but I'll give an autistic response. Any potential algorithm which is based on the truth or falsehood of the RH could simply be assumed, and then coded and ran. The actual proof is worth nothing.
