take into account that it is two hills that are meeting at the point 0, both with different slopes and im assuming different lengths, so first try to find the length between AOB then use that to move on to CD, Then to BD

The strategy is to turn the geometric problem into an algebraic one by defining a coordinate system.
Call the length of BD $x$ and then calculate all the coordinates of all points. The length of CD will be a function of $x$ which you can minimize.

The tops of the poles should be at the same height to minimize the length of cable. Draw lines from the bottom of the poles to the ground. The lengths of these lines are 20sin(30) and 20sin(40). So BD = 6 + 20sin(30) - 20sin(40).
