We see it a lot in fantasy and science fiction, and even in otherwise relatively grounded anime series, individuals or species (or both) with skin and/or hair/fur colors like green, blue, crimson red, pink, etc. How could these colors come about in humans or humanoids, animals, etc? Why don't we see more of this in nature already? It seems like it could offer numerous advantages.
