AI is a program, that is written in such a way, that it figures out how to calculate things. It is true that we wrote the algorithm of how to figure out. But we didn't write the algorithm of how to calculate. And we do not know how it calculates the difference between cat and dog images, we have only a general idea.
Here is another example of a smart algorithm: private and public keys in encryption. With one key you can encode, but you cannot decode what you have just encoded.
