In the 50's the US developed a cruise missile that used nuclear power as propulsion. It was intended to fly over an enemy country for weeks or months spewing deadly radiation all over the country. The US abandoned the project because it was too inhumane.

Over this last weekend Russia said they exploded a rocket in an accident. At first they said it was a normal rocket and only 2 were killed. Now they're saying 7 were killed, many of whom were nuclear engineers. Now there are reports this rocket was in fact powered by an unshielded nuclear reactor. Let me say that again.

Russia just exploded a nuclear reactor this weekend, in a failed attempt to recreate Project Pluto.
