>>10883810Pure math guy here, I'm going to give it to you straight. No one studies pure mathematics for any reason other than feeding their own ego. The entire idea is that if you are able to become a well-paid professor, you are essentially extracting a significant cashflow out of society for free, as you are pretty much just engaging in your hobby 24/7, and any dirty/hard work you assign to your legal slaves.
I am of course, not there yet, but that's my goal, as is the goal of anyone in this path. It's not only the beauty of math. It is the beauty of knowing that there are people truly at the bottom of society, farmers, retail workers, miners, bathroom cleaners, all whose labor is transmuted into cash, which is then transported to your bank account, for nothing in return to them.
