Is it possible to genetically (or even cybernetically) augment a race so that future generations will have a distinct outward appearance and certain genetic properties? (bluish hued skin/red eyes/grey eyes/pointy ears/sharper teeth/better metabolism/faster/stronger/more violent/less violent/thermal vision/UV vision/etc. etc.)

How can my race be edited to have the traits I want? Do we start with eugenics on the people, purges of the weak and dumb and then augment the genes of the eugenically selected couples' children to have the traits we want in our posterity?

I'm not a mad scientist type or a genetic specialist. My thing is mostly linux systems programming but I want my race to look different from all other races on Earth.
