Can anyone help me how to get into programming? I really want to start developing videogames in later stages but first I want to learn some programming languages.. Im still in high school and want to have some knowledge of programming since I will very probably go to uni related to compiter science and dont want to go there without knowing anything about programming..

You don't wanna develop video games. Yes it's your favorite hobby, yes it seems like a way to translate "passion to money". But you don't. You're going to get sick of video games just like the rest of us did. One day you're gonna be playing a game and realize "wow, this fucking blows".

At this point you're going to do one of two things. Either: Desperately look for your next dopamine hit by craving nostalgia (look at WoW Classic) or you're going to put down the games and look for something more.

Genuinely sit down in front of a mirror and think "What do I want to do with my life?" Don't think about the specifics. Think broadly: Do I want to create? Do I want to work with people? Do I want to help people? Think about broad questions and answer them for yourself.

So many kids pursue meme paths like Game Development, Streaming, Youtube content creatore and teaching because they don't know anything else.

There is an ENTIRE WORLD out there. Do not pigeon-hole yourself.

What the fuck am i supposed to do?? Electical engineering,programming,mechanical engineering or mechanotronics.. Those are the only stuff I want to do and will go to a faculty that has these. The only thing now I can do is learn some basic programming which can definitely help me since they are in a high need here in my country

Hackerrank is good because it gives you problems to solve, and from there you learn how to solve them through google. If you’d prefer a more traditional course, just shell out $12 for a Udemy course they’re pretty good. It’s hard to find free courses that aren’t just showing you stuff without any problems to figure out yourself.

A major prerequisite for being a programmer is the ability to not only problem solve but tolerate doing it for extended periods of time. If you are willing to give it a shot take a look at this website (https://www.learncpp.com). I had an interest in programming back when I was about 15, however it turned out that my mental faculties were not quite adequate enough for it. Every day I sulk over the thought of being intelligent and envy those who were lucky enough to be born with high intelligence. If you find yourself struggling to grasp c++, try looking at ruby or python videos on YouTube. Anyway good luck anon!!

The courses are not really the problem since you get to learn the syntax really fast. What I am actually struggling with is abstraction. I have a difficulty imagining the problem and breaking it into small steps. Those programming charts where you can visualize what every step does, that is something I cannot do (for now). Word problems have always been a problem for me. I am not sure if it is problem with logic or just analytical thinking.
