Has anybody ever used N-acetyl-cysteine and has had success in self-treating addiction or psychiatric problems?
My step-mother was giving me a supplement which had 42 mg of L-cysteine and 6mg of glutathione (along with other vitamins) daily. I felt more emotionally stable and sane than I normally do, and I hadn't known of the psychiatric effects yet so this wouldn't have been a placebo effect. I ran out of that supplement a while ago, though.
Now I am taking 1200mg of N-acetyl-cysteine daily and this is my second day. I am hoping to self-treat my obsessive thoughts, ADHD, anxiety, and sex addiction but I am keeping my expectations low.
