A question for any astronomy/space enthusiasts out there. I'm currently writing a bit of fiction and was looking for inspiration for names for possible Martian colonies. The most obvious choices would be astronomers who studied the planet, but I'm having trouble find many of them. There seem to be a lot of people who took a passing interest in mars, but never really focused on it. The two biggest names that seem to pop up are Schiaparelli and Lowell. My next idea was names of people who have headed up various projects that have focused on the red planet.
