How to think of division in this situation?

How is division thought of in situations such as the bernoulli fluid equation? the division off gravity of fluid yields "head". I understand the concept of multiplying Mass X acceleration = force as it is intuitive to me, but when dividing quantities I usually think of them as ratios. I'm not understanding the concept that is emerging when the division operation is being applied in this particular situation

head = "Word forms: (regular plural) fluid heads. (Chemical Engineering: General) The fluid head is the pressure which is measured by the height to which fluid that is being pumped can be raised by the pressure."
