I've always hated scrums.
They've always been stupid and boring.
I make sure that my team has
1) input into what happens in these meetings
2) the process is streamlined to fit their needs + the business's needs (this the actual job "work" part of being a in scrum mastery, which is a flavor of Operations Management).
This tends to mean they want it really fucking fast.
But also the purpose of the meeting is maximizing knowledge sharing.
You do updates because it prioritizes the knowledge sharing so that urgent things get done first, but the real purpose is to get the team aligned with each other by sharing knowledge.
Done right it also grows everyones' careers by setting up communication channels within the team that lead to strengthening relationships.
