Life began in the ocean. Were it not for the existence of dry land, the course of evolution would have gone in a greatly different direction. Elsewhere some people suggest the existence of “water worlds,” or worlds composed entirely of some other liquid.

So I ask you /sci/, if Earth had no continents above sea level (surface is entirely water) what sort of life would be swimming in the stygian depths? Would creatures the size of Blue Whales be more prevalent? Would the basic model of the finned fish become irrelevant? If we ever find alien life in our lifetimes, I sincerely hope its in another world’s ocean.
