Anyone feel like individual scientist in science are overrated?
Yes they are smart individuals, but even without them the progress of scientific knowledge is inevitable. Just as an example, Einstein is credited for general relativity, but at the time Hilbert already on the cusp and published the exact same equation. Einstein just took it further in discussion of space-time. From the wiki

It is inconceivable that in the year 2019 people would not have understand buoyancy had not Archimedes existed, people would not have understand calculus had not Newton existed. The famous scientists just happen to discovered it earlier. But their discovery would happen later regardless. Compare this to musical greats, Mozart Symphony 40 literally would not have existed without Mozart. I feel like society needs to celebrate scientific process rather than individuals
