and not

It’s easy. In calculus if we want to prove that to quantities are the same we just need to prove that they are infinitely close to each other. So if | 1+1-2 | < epsilon, we just chose a smaller epsilon and add the infinitesimal quantity C. Then |1+1-2| < epsilon/2 + C < epsilon

its a proof by contradiction. Assume 1+1 = 2 (which it is by definition of our traditional system). Now try to assume 1+1 = 2 + C. Then that implies 0=C. this contradicts our premise, where 0 is unequal to C. Therefore, 1+1=2+C is false.
